Chinese steel producer Baosteel Group Guangdong Shaoguan Iron+Steel Co.Ltd. known as Shaoguan Iron+Steel issued the FAC (Final Acceptance Certificate) for the new Kocks “RSB 370++/4” in 5.0 design.
It is the 115th Reducing and Sizing Block of Kocks worldwide. Despite all adversities due to the pandemic and current world situation, the order was completed on time, on target and on budget.
Shaoguan Iron+Steel (SGIS) is located in Guangdong province. The company is a joint venture of the government of Guangdong and central government-owned iron and steel conglomerate China Baowu Steel Group, one of the largest and most competitive steel producers in the world. The Kocks “RSB 370++/4” in the existing 490,000t/a bar mill line will produce straight bars seamless in a range between Ø 17mm to 80mm with a very tight tolerance level and excellent surface onto the cooling bed.
The “RSB 5.0” is located as a finishing unit after 20 stands in H/V rolling mill arrangement. Further scope of supply for this order was a roll shop for offline 3-roll stand and guide preparation, as well as supervision for the installation and commissioning. The new block at Shaoguan follows previous installations, for example at Baosteel Shanghai #5 in 2002 and at Shaoguan Iron+Steel wire rod and BIC line in 2018. It is the 5th Kocks “RSB” within the China Baowu Steel Group.
