Installed as a finishing unit after a reversing mill and 12 H/V stands, the Kocks Block is at the heart of the new 500,000t/a combined mill. With the proven 3-roll technology, Tata Steel is now producing straight bars with a finished dimension of Ø 20.00mm to 90.00mm onto the cooling bed as well as feeders for the wire rod outlet, allowing final dimensions of Ø 5.0mm to 27.0mm.

In the rolling mill, the precision and efficiency of the new “RSB” are particularly impressive in demanding applications. On the customer side, the partnership between the teams is particularly emphasised. Kocks 3-roll technology achieves consistently high quality, the tightest tolerances, and excellent surface quality. This strengthens Tata's position as a premium supplier for demanding processing industries.

The scope of supply also included roll shop equipment for efficient stand and guide preparation and the “Bamicon” Octopus software and hardware for operator guidance in the set-up process. With the “RSB 370++/4(5)” now fully operational, Tata Steel is well positioned to meet the growing demand of India’s expanding industrial sectors through reliable and flexible SBQ and wire rod production.
