From overhead power cable and submarine communications cable to copper, aluminium and steel wire, the “Profelis” can significantly increase the finishing capabilities of most wire and cable manufacturing operations.

The machine has many applications including the creation of a non-specular finish on power cable, cleaning and removing imperfections from aluminium and copper feeder wire, removing graphite, oxides and scale from steel wire, and creating a specific Ra surface roughness on submarine communications wire for bonding with outer sheath layers.

At the heart of the machine is a unique blast gun manifold with four powerful blast guns located at 90 degree angles to give complete 360 degree finishing. This highly effective blast gun configuration can be boosted by specifying eight blast guns located at 45 degree angles for maximum productivity. The versatile machine is capable of processing wire 1mm (0.04") in diameter to cable 54mm (2.13") in diameter

The “Profelis” is also designed to work in-line with existing manufacturing lines, further improving productivity, especially when compared with pickling and dry blast finishing operations that are usually off-line from the main production.

Rinsing and drying is included within the machine to ensure all blast media is removed before wire and cable products are rapidly dried to help prevent oxidation and to prepare the product for the next production process. If needed, inhibitors can be added to the blast slurry to further prevent oxidation.
