“Cup and cone” wire breaks and their causes

Together with the other four partners of the “NF Wire Forum“ (non-ferrous wire forum), Niehoff is pleased to invite everyone interested to an online event on October 20 from 12:30 to 14:00 CET.

Short presentations given in English will focus on “cup and cone” wire breaks and the influencing factors.

This event serves as an online forerunner for a physical meeting of the “NF Wire Forum“ scheduled to take place in 2021. The organizer, the consortium, is consisting of Aurubis, Balloffet, Bechem, and Niehoff, well-known suppliers to the wire industry, as well as the association Deutsches Kupferinstitut.

Over 20 years ago, Bechem initiated and has since then regularly conducted a metal forming forum in Germany, which has brought the German-speaking non-ferrous wire industry, their suppliers, and their partners together. Utilizing this experience and broadening its reach, the five consortium partners launched the new NF Wire Forum last November in Germany.

In 2020, the consortium partners felt a strong push to conduct the NF Wire Forum in English for their customers in the EMEA region at a nice spot in Europe for the first time. The coronavirus pandemic has unfortunately interfered with these plans, so the consortium partners are pleased to start with an online event to interact with their customers and to provide a first glimpse at a topic that will be presented in detail at the NF Wire Forum follow-up meeting in 2021: it will be all about fine wire drawing and the interacting disciplines of copper wire rod, machinery, dies, and lubrication to successfully produce the thinnest wire diameters at a high process level.
