01/09/2026 – Statement marking WIRE’s 75th anniversary
That was tomorrow: from industrial lines to space
What once seemed like science fiction is now part of Aeroel Marposs’s industrial reality.
Since the early 1980s, we have developed laser micrometers for precise, non-contact diameter measurement.
Over the years, we have extended this technology to applications once considered impossible, creating optical protection systems for harsh environments such as dry drawing lines, as well as the HWS portable non-contact micrometer.
In 2024, this journey reached a new frontier: an Aeroel Marposs “XLS13XY” laser micrometer was sent to the International Space Station, where it contributed to the first industrial-scale production of optical fibre in space. From dusty production lines to orbit, what was once “tomorrow” has become reality.
Looking ahead, we see measurement systems becoming increasingly intelligent and integrated into production processes. Our mission remains unchanged: to turn demanding measurement challenges into precise and reliable solutions.
