03/12/2024 – EP Connectors values the reliability of Leibinger printers
Printing cables for the automotive industry
EP Connectors GmbH relies on the intelligent “IQ Jet” printers from Leibinger for the production of cables for the automotive industry at its new plant. The requirements are exacting: Every year, 5,000km of cable need to be printed reliably and with exceptional abrasion resistance.
EP Connectors opted for Leibinger as early as in the system design phase.
Exacting requirements in terms of speed and reliability
“From the original concept through to its successful implementation, we knew we could rely on Leibinger’s experience and expertise,” says Klaus Ciminato, Head of Cable Production at EP Connectors in Bruchsal. The system is designed for speed and reliability – both of which have to go hand in hand for the production of cables for the automotive industry. The cable insulation lines run at 1,000 metres per minute. EP Connectors produces stranding with up to 15 cores. In tandem operation, the cable manufacturer’s sheathing line achieves a speed of up to 30 metres per minute. Impressive figures.
Integrated printers reduce set-up times
“IQ Jet” printers are integrated directly into the high-performance system. This ensures that the corresponding print text is loaded immediately, which significantly reduces set-up times. “Based on my 40 years of experience in the cable sector, we opted for Leibinger printers when developing the system concept because reliability is imperative for us,” explains Klaus Ciminato. The printers’ unique automatic sealing system with its closed ink circuit prevents clogging even during downtimes. “Together, we succeeded in achieving the best possible result,” summarises the Head of Cable Production at EP Connectors.
