Traditional PCD die production technology relies on a sequential combination of laser processing (nano or picosecond laser) or electrical discharge machining (EDM) (which degrades the diamond and selectively burns cobalt from the binder) and multi-stage ultrasonic polishing or wire polishing, which is difficult to fully automate.
