This year’s “German Sustainability Award”, probably the most prestigious award of its kind in Europe, was presented in Düsseldorf on 23.11.2023. In the metal industry category, the Swiss Steel Group, based in Lucerne and Düsseldorf, is delighted to have won against extremely strong competition.
When the finalists and winners of the “German Sustainability Award” meet in Düsseldorf on November 23, 2023, this prestigious award will be presented for the 16th time. The DNP has been awarded annually since 2008 by the Stiftung Deutscher Nachhaltigkeitspreis e.V. and its cooperation partners. These include the German government, the German Council for Sustainable Development, municipal associations and business associations.
The “German Sustainability Award” is an award that focuses entirely on the topic of sustainability. The award honors exemplary sustainability achievements in business, municipalities and research. With five competitions, over 800 applicants and around 2,000 guests at the closing ceremony, it is the largest award of its kind in Europe.
With expertise, a sense of proportion and courage, the 140 jurors of the DNP for companies have chosen those companies that, in their view, are leading the sustainable transformation in their industries this year. Their choices recognizably reflect the breadth and depth of transformation.
The finalists in the metals industry included 4 very strong companies, among which Swiss Steel Group emerged as the winner.
Sustainability is one of the Swiss Steel Group's strategic business goals and it can count itself among the market leaders that can already successfully deliver Green Steel to its customers.

This is a lasting testament to our ongoing commitment to decarbonization and our vision of an environmentally friendly future in the steel industry, which we remain committed to even in challenging times. Above all, it is a recognition of the achievements of our employees, all of whom are working intensively every day in a difficult economic environment to make further progress in decarbonizing our industry,” said Frank Koch, CEO of the Swiss Steel Group spontaneously at the announcement of the winners. “For us, sustainability is not only a strategic corporate goal, but also a social responsibility towards future generations,” Frank Koch added.
