26/06/2026 – Leadership transition at Rosendahl Nextrom
Josef Altmayr new Business Unit Director for Cable and Wire
Josef Altmayr has assumed leadership of Rosendahl Nextrom's Cable and Wire Business Unit. Succeeding former director Johann Jäkel, he will lead the business unit into its next phase.
With Josef Altmayr, Rosendahl Nextrom is placing the future of its Cable and Wire Business Unit in the hands of an experienced leader who knows the business from the ground up. Since joining in 1990 as a process engineer for cable and wire, Altmayr has played an active role in the company’s growth. Over the course of his career, he advanced through a variety of leadership roles, including Head of R+D, Technical Director, and Group COO, among others. In these roles, he helped shape major technological and organizational milestones, including advancements in foaming technology and the development of the “Roex” extruder generation. Most recently, he served as Head of Supply Chain Management for the entire Rosendahl Nextrom Group.
“Returning to Cable and Wire feels like coming back to my roots,” says Altmayr. “I look forward to reconnecting with our customers and working closely with our dynamic team to further strengthen our position as a technology leader and build on the strong foundation established by Johann Jäkel.”
According to Altmayr, meaningful innovation is built on partnership, openness, and a deep understanding of customer needs. “Our ambition is not only to follow technological developments, but to anticipate them — and to help our customers turn them into competitive advantages.”
Looking ahead, he sees digitalization, artificial intelligence, and automation as key enablers of this ambition. “The pace of technological change is accelerating. We want to make even greater use of technologies such as AI and robotics – both within our operations and in our equipment – to further increase quality, performance, and value for our customers.”
Altmayr succeeds Johann Jäkel, who has led the business unit since 2019. During his tenure, the business achieved substantial growth despite challenging market conditions. Under his leadership, Rosendahl Nextrom strengthened its position in growth markets such as e-mobility, energy, and data center solutions, and expanded its global footprint through the opening of its Mexican office and the recent acquisition of the Estonian Windak Group.
“We set the right strategic direction and built a strong foundation for long-term success,” says Jäkel.
“Josef is the ideal successor because he has personally helped develop many of our core technologies and brings unique experience across technology, operations, and the commercial side of the business.”
As part of the planned transition, Jäkel will dedicate his final year with Rosendahl Nextrom to supporting the integration of Windak into the Rosendahl Nextrom Group.
