Since its inception in the 1950s, this trade magazine has been a faithful companion and a proud witness to major milestones. The magazine emerged at a time when the industry was shifting from mechanics to electronics – A time of upheaval and innovation.

For more than seven decades, it has reflected the latest findings from industry and research. For over 35 years, it has also been a reliable partner and voice of the Association of German Wire and Cable Machine Manufacturers (VDKM).

Yet the waters haven’t always been calm. In some years, high waves have crashed in and nearly put the industry in distress. Even now, as conditions for the metalworking industry grow increasingly difficult, the WIRE magazine continues to expertly bring current topics to its readers.

With journalistic neutrality, expertise, and clarity, the WIRE magazine shared specialized knowledge as an “industry companion” and intermediary between machine manufacturers, users, suppliers, and service providers.

WIRE is dedicated to shaping public opinion and providing expert advice on a wide range of topics. It captures the spirit of the times and reports on technological change.

In the words of Isaac Newton: “What we know is a drop. What we do not know is an ocean.” We hope that the trade magazine WIRE will continue to serve as a mirror of new achievements, insights, and innovations in the decades to come.

We congratulate the entire WIRE publishing team on 75 years of exciting reporting and look forward to the years ahead!
