Spiralling machines for heating cables
Heating cables are versatile cables with numerous applications including frost protection, ice and snow melting and many more. The “Helix 6036” from SSB are designed for the spiralling of all kinds of core material in horizontal direction. The base machine is equipped with 2 rotating heads.
A very common application for spiraling machines are heating cables. Heating cables are versatile cables with numerous applications including frost protection, ice and snow melting and many more.
Self-regulating heating cables increase power as temperatures fall and decreases as temperatures rise. Excellent for metallic or non-metallic piping and tanks, self-regulating heating cables allow for ease of design and installation with applications ranging from freeze protection to temperature maintenance to foundation heating.
Heating cable looks more like standard two-conductor house wiring cable and is not nearly as flexible as heating tape – most varieties are about as flexible as a hose. The stiffness is related to one of the main differences between them and heat tapes: heating cables are enclosed in a core that protects the heating elements and means you can use the heater in a broader range of environments. Heating cable can also be cut into length and terminated with electrical connections. There are different types of heating cable available:
Self-regulating heating cable is made so that it will not rise above a certain temperature. They are on the low end of the temperature range, suitable for applications up to for example 120°C.
Constant-wattage heating cable by opposite, doesn't control its own temperature, so it requires a controller. It is available for higher temperatures, with ranges up to 260°C. It can be run on a wider range of voltages: 120V, 208V, 240V, 277V, and 480V.
An for example automatic electric water pipe heating cable is a cable that prevents metal and plastic pipes from freezing. These units are activated and de-activated by an integral energy saving thermostat. They are suitable for commercial and residential metal or plastic water supply pipes subject to freezing temperatures.
The “Helix 6036” from SSB are designed for the spiralling of all kinds of core material in horizontal direction. The base machine is equipped with 2 rotating heads. Each head will contain 18 bobbins and each bobbin can contain multiple ends of wires or yarn. The core is wrapped with those wires crossing-free with constant pitch. All parameters are freely programmable and recallable. Pay-off and take-up installations are optional. Because of the modular construction of the machine custom specifications are easy to integrate, such as for example taping installation etc.
Optional SSB is offering Spiralling machines for vertical spiralling.
These vertical machines of type DW are available with 8, 12, 16 , 18 or 24 bobbins as well as with integrated tapers.
Both type of spiraling machines offer the advantage of high speed up to 450rpm.
