Magdeburg/Germany (SKET) – Chinese Hengtong Submarine Power Cable Co., Ltd. in Changshu has accepted two machines of the German SKET GmbH after installation and successful commissioning. The vertical stranding machine and a reinforcing plant had produced 27km of XPLE-insulated high-voltage offshore power cables each 3 x 500mm² for 220kV. The supplier and the buyer had realised the project together in less than two years. The special assembly technology of the Magdeburg-based company – such as the storage of turntables, banding systems and bitumen units – was confirmed in this production of extra-long cables. Hengtong is the first cable manufacturer with offshore machines for SKET. The production of high voltage offshore power cables is one of the key markets for cable manufacturers in China. The demand for this technology is increasing.
