964 registrants from 39 states and 14 countries filled the exhibit hall and conference rooms for this much-anticipated show which followed the theme: “Rising to the challenges.” The typically biennial event was last staged pre-pandemic in 2018. WAI’s popular Fundamentals of Wire Manufacturing Course on June 6 preceded the activities with 126 participants.

The exhibit included a full complement of products and supplies from 130 participating companies. Conference attendees represented 257 discrete companies. On June 8, Encore Wire, a manufacturer of copper and aluminum residential, commercial, and industrial building wire, hosted Wire Expo guests on a sold-out tour of its ever expanding campus in McKinney, Texas.

Describing the event WAI 2022 President James York said “the energy of the event was fantastic. It was clear the group was happy to be back together and to acknowledge those who navigated us through the pandemic. Under these challenging times, networking and sharing is even more important. Wire Expo was just what we needed!”

Brian Schulties, the Chief Procurement Officer for Prysmian Group North America, shared his insights into the opportunities and challenges facing supply chain in the wire and cable industry in his presentation titled: “The new normal in raw material procurement for the wire and cable industry.”
