13/10/2026 – SPS – Smart Production Solutions in Shenzhen
Greater bay area’s automation ecosystem
“SPS – Smart Production Solutions Shenzhen 2027” will showcase smart manufacturing technologies and applications relevant to South China’s manufacturing industries.
As part of Messe Frankfurt’s “SPS” global network, the fair will draw on Shenzhen’s high-tech manufacturing strengths and its position within the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area to support technical exchange and commercial discussions across the sector. Relocating from Guangzhou, the 2027 edition will take place alongside “Formnext Asia Shenzhen” from 1 to 3 September at the Shenzhen World Exhibition+Convention Center. The two exhibitions together will span 60,000sqm and are expected to host more than 800 exhibitors.
Forecasts estimate that China’s smart manufacturing market will reach RMB 6.6 trillion (USD 985 billion), made up of around RMB 5.4 trillion (USD 806 billion) in equipment and RMB 1.2 trillion (USD 179 billion) in system solutions [1]. Shenzhen is supporting the sector through a tiered programme for developing smart factories, project subsidies and industrial funds, as well as initiatives to expand the use of smart manufacturing technologies in industries including semiconductors and robotics.
To support the continued adoption of smart manufacturing technologies across South China, “SPS – Smart Production Solutions Shenzhen” will showcase products ranging from smart manufacturing components and hardware to complete solutions for industries including embodied intelligence, 3C electronics, new energy, lithium batteries, photovoltaics, equipment manufacturing, home appliances and logistics. Following the format of the brand’s Nuremberg flagship, “SPS – Smart Production Solutions”, the exhibits will be divided into eight thematic areas: drive systems and components, sensor technology, control technology, connection technology, mechanical infrastructure, industrial software and IT, human-machine interfaces and industrial communication.
In addition to the main product displays, several dedicated zones will provide further opportunities for exhibitors to present technologies and discuss their applications. The Intelligent Innovation Zone will feature established international names and include expert-led technical sessions on the accompanying Intelligent Innovation Stage. Elsewhere, the International Pavilion will focus on smart manufacturing technologies from overseas and encourage technical exchange between Chinese and international industry professionals, while the Start-up Zone will present emerging technologies with potential for commercial application in smart manufacturing.
In 2026, the fair and concurrent events attracted 40,025 visitors representing 17,598 companies, as well as 152 corporate buyer delegations. Visitors were predominantly decision-makers and technical personnel working in management, design and R+D, procurement and production. Represented businesses included BYD, CATL, Dobot, Huawei Technologies, Intel, KUKA, Midea Group, Xiaomi Group and XPeng, whose sourcing requirements ranged from improvements to production lines and the replacement of components and equipment to customised smart manufacturing solutions. For the 2027 edition, visitor outreach will continue to focus on end users, system integrators and technical service providers from industries including embodied intelligence, automotive, electronics, new energy, semiconductors, packaging, printing and mechanical engineering.
Some confirmed exhibitors have also commented on the opportunities presented by the fair’s move to Shenzhen. Zhiqiang Wang, Marketing Director, Codesys, said: “Shenzhen and the wider South China region are home to many manufacturers of high-end equipment, electronic information products and new energy technologies, making this an important market for automation technology. We look forward to SPS – Smart Production Solutions Shenzhen connecting international technology resources with local manufacturing needs, enabling software vendors, equipment manufacturers, integrators and end users to communicate efficiently and work together to advance intelligent production in China.”
Lisha Ma, Marketing Manager, Novanta, remarked: “We have participated in SPS exhibitions in Europe and China for many years. They connect us with relevant professional visitors and help us communicate our solutions, including those for precision motion control and robotic end effectors. We are very pleased about the move to Shenzhen in 2027, as the city is a major centre for supply chains across 3C electronics, humanoid robotics, precision medical equipment, smart terminals and AI manufacturing. We plan to use the fair to connect with local manufacturing customers and support them in adopting automation technologies.”
“SPS – Smart Production Solutions Shenzhen” will be co-organised by Guangzhou Guangya Messe Frankfurt Co Ltd, China Foreign Trade Guangzhou Exhibition Co Ltd, Guangzhou Overseas Trade Fairs Ltd and Mesago Messe Frankfurt GmbH.
