Wrexham/Großbritanien (Cimteq) – With over 400 employees working across three sites, this New Hampshire company has been producing one-of-a-kind wire and cable solutions for over 100 years. This agility is supported by the fact that all proprietary equipment and tooling is designed and built inhouse; allowing it to respond quickly to product modifications as and when needed.

The sectors across which NEWT operates is incredibly broad: from medical electronics to military and defense, industrial manufacturing, communications, robotics and automation. Such diversity of market requires cable software that can flex accordingly. The company’s desired outcome in investing in this area was pretty singular: achieving long-term competitor advantage through streamlining of business process, enhancing resource productivity and ensuring a single version of truth.

NEWT identified no fewer than 17 High-level Differentiators (HDIs) as its key priorities in ERP business software. Examples included project structure for NPD, quoting and order entry, bill of materials, forecasting for material planning purposes, defective material reports, inventory management and multi-language options.

The natural choice in fulfilling these HDIs was “Cable Suite”, an integrated solution of three industry-leading products: Cimteq’s cable design and manufacturing software “Cable Builder” and “Cable MES”, and Innovites’ “Cable ERP”.

Mike White, Business Analyst at NEWT, explains the company’s decision: “A project of this magnitude demands attention to even the smallest of detail. When shortlisting our suppliers, there were two criteria we considered critical. It goes without saying that the software needed to be robust and accommodate our continuing plans to create cutting-edge products. Equally as important for us, however, was to put our implicit trust in that software partner. What we found that in the Cimteq and Innovites partnership was a highly committed and qualified project team and we were delighted to confirm that January 2020 marked our go-live.”

Matt Rowlands, Cimteq’s Manufacturing Systems Engineer, and Albert Groothedde, CEO at Innovites have been heavily involved to support NEWT with the go-live. Matt comments: “Retiring old processes as well as transforming working practices in cable design and manufacture takes a serious amount of time and commitment. Never more so than when a full suite of software is being rolled out as is the case with the Cable Suite.

This project has been collaboration at its best: strong risk assessment, clearly defined roles and responsibilities; and, above all, effective communication. It’s a significant milestone for all three parties.”
