Gianfranco Cortese passed away

Authentic, dependable, in love with life: This is how Gianfranco Cortese will be remembered by all who knew him. Now, we have to bid farewell to our long-standing and valued representative in Italy.

On 14 July, Gianfranco Cortese suddenly and unexpectedly passed away at the age of 79. Our thoughts are with his family at this difficult time.

Gianfranco Cortese started working for Meisenbach Verlag Bamberg in the late 1970s. Besides his interest in wire technology, he had a great passion for art. Warmth and an insatiable love of life were key to his success.

For him, customer relations often went beyond business. He was an epicure who appreciated good food and select wines. He would always attend “wire” Düsseldorf in person to look after our Italian customers.

His deep bond with the publishing house came to the fore in 1998 when he took over “IL FILO METALLICO” and “ALAMBRE”, the Italian and Spanish sister magazines of DRAHT and WIRE.

An “old school” sales representative, he was authentic and dependable in all dealings with his customers and colleagues. Gianfranco Cortese was actively working and advising his customers right until the end.

We have lost not only an excellent member of our specialist metallurgy magazines but also a dear friend.

In silent tribute
