GMH commissions full-profile measuring device “4D Eagle”

German Special steel manufacturer Georgsmarienhuette (GMH) has commissioned the new measuring device “4D Eagle” from Friedrich Kocks GmbH+Co KG. It replaces an existing profilometer, which is also based on the light-section method.

Hilden/Germany (Kocks) – All dimensions of the existing reducing and sizing block type “RSB 370/6” – also manufactured by Friedrich Kocks – are measured in the production range 19.5mm to 82.3mm with the new device. “4D Eagle” is prepared for all temperature and contamination levels in rolling mills and measures precisely from the first to the last bar during the entire rolling process. Furthermore, the meter provides detailed information for the fully automatic adjustment of the roll gap and the autonomous finished dimension optimization. Another 4D Eagle highlight is the detection of rolling defects. Profile deviations are analysed fully automatically and possible rolling errors are identified, for example by roll breaks or guide rollers.
