Integrated into Kardemir’s 700,000t/a SBQ mill, which was commissioned in 2018, the new Kocks 3 roll block enables a broad SBQ product range. The Turkish steel producer can now reliably roll straight bar products from Ø20mm to 105mm, bar in coil products from Ø20mm to 56mm and hexagonal bars from Ø20mm to 75mm. All products are produced with highest dimensional accuracy and reliable performance. “The start-up of the Kocks ‘RSB’ is an important step in further strengthening our position in demanding SBQ markets,” says a Kardemir representative.

The “RSB” comes with carefully selected process solutions. The “Bamicon Octopus” workflow-oriented solution guides all setup processes in the roll shop, helping to ensure consistent, reproducible results. The “4D Eagle S” measuring system enables in-line quality assurance and, seamlessly integrated with the “RSB” and higher-level systems, provides precise, real-time dimensional data. Together with remote control for automatic stand and guide adjustments, it supports closed-loop mechanisms with the Size Control System from Kocks.

With the project progressing as planned, Kardemir can now supply Kocks „rolled value-added products“ to demanding processing industries, including the automotive, railway, machinery and construction sectors. The successful rolling of the first bar marks the start of a new phase, where experts will be on-site to provide in-depth training and advisory services as part of the Kocks lifecycle services, supporting Kardemir in maximizing the performance and availability of the new “RSB” installation.
