18/09/2026 – From Wire Drawing to Cold Forming
Traxit to become Cold Forming Field of Application within Surtec
Effective January 1, 2027, Traxit Wire Lubrication, currently a brand of Klüber Lubrication, will become Surtec's sixth Field of Application. This strategic realignment within Freudenberg Chemical Specialities reflects both the changing dynamics of the wire drawing market and the attractive growth opportunities in adjacent cold forming applications.
By combining Traxit's long-standing expertise in dry lubricants, wet drawing lubricants and carrier coatings with Surtec's global application know-how in metal pre-treatment and industrial parts cleaning, Surtec's position in the metal forming market will be further sharpened and significantly strengthened.
Customers will benefit from an integrated product portfolio and comprehensive know-how for applications across the entire field of cold forming, extending beyond Traxit's core business in wire drawing. The basis of the new Field of Application remains Traxit's existing customer base, product portfolio and high-quality technical service. This will be complemented by Surtec's global network and market expertise in the cold forming industry.
“The establishment of Cold Forming as a new Field of Application marks an important step in the further development of our portfolio,” said Dr. Karsten Grünke, CEO Surtec. “Traxit and SurTec combine their complementary strengths to create one of the industry's most comprehensive offerings for cold forming applications.”
“Since 1881, Traxit has stood for technical expertise and close customer relationships,” said Hartmut Schröder, CEO Traxit. “The integration into Surtec's structure creates a strong foundation for the positive development of the business. Customers benefit from an expanded range of solutions, combined expertise and strong global service capabilities.”
The new Cold Forming Field of Application provides a solid framework for the further development of the Traxit business and supports Surtec's long-term strategy of further expanding its expertise across adjacent industrial manufacturing processes.
