We see ourselves as a ‘companion to the industry’ – as a mediator between machine manufacturers, users, suppliers and service providers. Our connection to research at universities and institutes goes back just as far.

The spring, wire and cable industry has its mouthpiece at home and abroad in the magazine WIRE. Its German-language sister magazine DRAHT also celebrated its 75th anniversary in 2025.

In the September issue 3/2026, we will be celebrating 75 years of WIRE together with our readers and business partners. In line with our claim ‘Movers. Markets. Meisenbach.’, we will be focusing in particular on personalities from the industry.

What we would like to know

Write to us and tell us what connects you to WIRE over these seven decades. Industry associations, institutes and trade fair organisers associated with WIRE will also comment on the role and mission of the trade journal.

Under the motto ‘That was tomorrow’, we report on technical developments that were expected in recent years – and which actually came to fruition. Previous anniversary editions had already focused on company histories and product developments (yesterday – today – tomorrow).

The idea of technical achievements has always been fascinating: what was once science fiction is now reality, from smart devices to AI to 3D printing. WIRE also talked about ‘tomorrow’ back then – the visions became a blueprint for a future that the spring, wire and cable industry also helped to shape. Much of this has long since become reality: NC machines, CAD/CAM, automation, digitalisation, global networking or smart production. Developments that were still a dream of the future 75 years ago are now indispensable.

An important companion for industry

And us? – We have always been at the heart of developments in the spring, wire and cable world. Over the years, as a ‘companion to the industry’, we have identified trends, explained technology and combined know-how with practical experience. WIRE is read in Europe, North and South America, Asia, Africa and Oceania. To mark our anniversary next year, we would be delighted to hear from the reader who lives furthest away from the Meisenbach publishing house in 96050 Bamberg, Germany. It would be great for us to receive a personal photo with the magazine in your hands and your exact address.
